Álvaro has concentrated his practice in Antitrust, Litigation and Arbitration.

In the antitrust area, he has represented clients in governmental proceedingsand investigations related to cartels, dominance, vertical restraints, mergercontrol, regulatory recommendations and follow-on damages suits. He has also provided preventive advice on contracts and commercial policies. He also has experience in civil, commercial, bankruptcy, and constitutional litigation.

In consumer protection mandates, Álvaro has experience in both administrative proceedings (collective mediations, recall and general investigations by Sernac) and judicial proceedings, including class actions, as well as providing preventive advise to clients.

He has taught civil law at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile since 2014. He worked as an associate at Claro & Cía. between 2011 and 2013. Between2013 and 2016 he served as rapporteur (clerk) of the H. Tribunal de Defensa dela Libre Competencia. Additionally, between 2017 and 2018 he worked as an international associate in the litigation department of Shearman & SterlingLLP, New York (currently A&O Shearman). He rejoined Claro y Cia. in 2018 and has been a partner since 2022.

He has been admitted to practice law in Chile since 2012 and in the State of New York, USA, since 2018.
