EXPERIENCE
José Luis Cortés concentrates his practice in criminal law.
Previously, he worked as an associate lawyer at Cruzat, Ortúzar & Mackenna Ltda., Baker & McKenzie (2006-2008). In the Public Prosecutor’s Office, he was an assistant attorney at the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Economic Crimes and Civil Servants, at the North Central Metropolitan Regional Prosecutor’s Office (2008-2009). Subsequently, he worked as an advisory lawyer in the National Prosecutor’s Office, in the Specialized Anti-Corruption Unit (2009-2016) and in the Specialized Unit on Money Laundering, Economic and Environmental Crimes and Organized Crime (2016-2018).
He is a professor of Criminal Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2010 to date). In addition, he has participated as a lecturer in several diploma courses and as a speaker in training sessions.
He joined Claro & Cia. in 2025.
